The Houston Texans could lean more on tight end Dalton Schultz in their Week 2 matchup with the Cincinnati Bengals if wide receiver Nico Collins is unavailable. Collins sustained a hamstring injury during Houston’s Wednesday practice, according to a report from SI.com citing ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
The Texans do not consider the injury serious, but Collins’ status for the game remains uncertain. Houston could take a cautious approach because Collins has dealt with injuries before, including a Grade 2 hamstring strain in 2024 that led to an injured-reserve stint.
Schultz led the Texans in receptions in 2025, with 82 catches for 777 yards. His workload also increased last season when Collins exited Houston’s Week 7 matchup with the Seattle Seahawks. Schultz received 10 targets in that game and finished with nine receptions for 98 yards.
If Collins cannot play, the Texans’ group of receiving options could change and create additional opportunities for Schultz. The source did not include a final update on Collins’ availability for the Cincinnati game.
