Anna has already collected more sales tax this budget year than it planned for the whole year, and one month of receipts is still outstanding.
A city schedule of sales tax collections, attached to the packet for Thursday's joint meeting of the Anna Community Development Corporation and Economic Development Corporation, puts the total for October 2025 through August 2026 at $10,100,365. The budget line on the same schedule is $9,650,000, and the sheet lists collections at 105% of that figure.
September, the last month of the budget year, has not been posted yet.
The latest two months
Economic Development Manager Salena Tittle is scheduled to brief the boards on the two newest months:
- July: $968,298, up 18% from $817,173 in July 2025.
- August: $963,098, up 27% from $761,329 in August 2025.
Every month this year has come in above the same month last year except March. That month brought in $1,059,013, down 43% from an unusually large $1,873,725 in March 2025.
Year over year
Because of that March comparison, the overall gain is smaller than the monthly percentages suggest. Using the schedule's own numbers, the first 11 months of the year are about $333,000, or roughly 3.4%, ahead of the same 11 months a year earlier. Leaving March out of both years, the rest of the year is up about 14.5%.
Last year's collections finished at $10,612,271 after a September total of $844,898.
Also on Thursday's agenda
The boards meet at 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, in the City Council Chambers at the Anna Municipal Complex, 120 W. Seventh St. Besides the finance report, staff are asking the boards to cancel their Dec. 3 meeting because of scheduling conflicts and meet instead at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 2.
A monthly activity summary in the packet lists six meetings with real estate firms and developers, five pre-development meetings and 26 in-person visits to existing businesses as part of the department's retention outreach. Staff also plan a VIP gathering on the library's second-floor balcony during the city's Santa's Village and Christmas tree lighting on Saturday, Dec. 5.
