The University of Houston has recognized offensive guard Shadre Hurst for his selection to the Preseason AP All-American First-Team. This announcement emphasizes Hurst's outstanding performance on the field.
Earlier this month, he was also named to the Preseason Watch Lists for both the Lombardi Trophy and the Outland Trophy. Hurst has a notable connection with head coach Willie Fritz and offensive line coach Eman Naghavi from their previous time at Tulane, where he achieved All-American recognition and received All-AAC honors in The American Conference.
Hurst has displayed remarkable abilities, earning an 80.0 pass block grade since 2023, placing him second among active FBS offensive linemen. Over more than 1,200 passing snaps, he has allowed just one sack, demonstrating his effectiveness and reliability.
In 2025, he was acknowledged as the highest graded offensive lineman in the American Athletic Conference and was ranked sixth nationally among guards by Pro Football Focus. During his time at Tulane, he contributed to three conference titles from 2022 to 2025, maintaining an impressive record of just one sack allowed throughout four seasons.
The Cougars will kick off their new college football season on September 5, hosting Oregon State at TDECU Stadium, with the game starting at 11 a.m.
