The Houston Texans have increased the top value of Trent Brown’s 2026 playing-time incentives from $1.5 million to $2.5 million. Spotrac’s Michael Ginnitti reported the revised terms Sept. 16 in a post on X.
Brown can receive $500,000 for each of five playing-time marks, set at 50%, 55%, 60%, 65% and 70%. Troy Chapman of Over The Cap previously reported that the adjustment did not change Brown’s salary-cap charge or his initial cash flow. The added incentives were put on top of the original package.
Houston re-signed Brown during the 2026 offseason to a one-year, $5.5 million contract. He opened the season as the starting right tackle after remaining with the team through its offseason program. In 2025, injuries limited him to seven regular-season starts and one playoff start.
Brown has not made every regular-season start in a season since 2022, when he played for the New England Patriots. He won a Super Bowl with New England in 2018, when Texans general manager Nick Caserio was an executive there.
The Texans signed Braden Smith to a two-year, $20 million contract, but injuries sent Smith to injured reserve and kept him from taking the starting role. Pro Football Focus ranked Brown Houston’s sixth-best pass blocker in Week 1 and the team’s third-highest offensive lineman in that category, behind Aireontae Ersery and Evan Brown.
