Baylor quarterback DJ Lagway is expected to sit out the team’s game with Louisiana Tech, while a report from On3 Sports indicates he is progressing toward a possible return against Colorado on Sept. 26.

Pete Nakos reported that Lagway is moving toward being available for the Big 12 opener against the Colorado Buffaloes and coach Deion Sanders, but the report stopped short of confirming that he will play.

Lagway was injured during Baylor’s 17-16 season-opening defeat against Auburn. Sources told On3 Sports that the junior sustained a high-ankle sprain. Earlier in the week, Baylor coach Dave Aranda characterized Lagway’s status as day-to-day.

The quarterback was absent from Baylor’s following game, a 44-3 win over Prairie View. The Bears are scheduled to play Louisiana Tech before beginning conference competition against Colorado. ClutchPoints reported that the timing of Lagway’s return is still unclear, apart from the indication that he is making progress toward the Colorado game.
