Stars Build Early Lead
Eighteen thousand, five hundred, and thirty-two fans witnessed the Dallas Stars secure a 3-1 victory over the visiting Columbus Blue Jackets at American Airlines Center. The home team established control early, outscoring Columbus 2-0 in the first period. Mikko Rantanen opened the scoring for Dallas with his seventh goal of the season, assisted by Wyatt Johnston and Jason Robertson.
Shortly after, Thomas Harley added his first goal of the campaign, with assists from Arttu Hyry and Miro Heiskanen, pushing the Stars to a 2-0 lead before the second period even began.
Second Period Stalemate
The second period provided a quiet interlude in the game’s flow. Neither team managed to score during this middle frame, preserving the Stars’ two-goal advantage heading into the final stretch. The Blue Jackets, who had not scored yet, looked to regroup and find a way to break through the Stars’ defensive structure, but the 2-0 margin remained intact at the end of the second period.
Third-Period Drama
Columbus finally found the back of the net in the third period when Damon Severson scored his second goal of the season. Assisted by Zach Werenski and Kent Johnson, Severson cut the Stars’ lead to one goal. However, Dallas responded swiftly.
