The Houston Texans have confirmed that wide receiver Jayden Higgins will not play in the 2026 season due to a torn ACL. This injury occurred during a joint practice with the Las Vegas Raiders, as reported by NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport.
Higgins, who was drafted as the No. 34 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, had a successful rookie year with 41 receptions, 525 yards, and six touchdowns. His role expanded significantly after teammate Tank Dell was injured late in the 2024 season, making him a crucial target for quarterback C.J. Stroud.
In the previous season, Higgins caught 41 passes out of 68 targets, particularly excelling during Houston's nine-game winning streak to finish the regular season. He scored four touchdowns in the last nine weeks and achieved his highest yardage totals in Weeks 13 and 17.
With Higgins unavailable, the Texans are expected to rely on players like Xavier Hutchinson, Jaylin Noel, and Justin Watson to strengthen their receiving lineup. The team remains optimistic about Tank Dell's potential return from his injury later in the season. No further information on Higgins' recovery timeline has been released.
