The Houston Texans are facing roster challenges ahead of the 2026 NFL season after wide receiver Jayden Higgins was placed on injured reserve because of a torn ACL.

Higgins was expected to be a key player as the team's No. 2 receiver, and his absence has led the Texans to seek additional support at the position, particularly as other receivers, including Jaylin Noel and Tank Dell, are also managing injuries.

In light of this situation, the Texans are reportedly looking into free agency options, specifically targeting veteran wide receivers Josh Reynolds and Zay Jones. Reynolds, who previously played for the Detroit Lions, had 40 receptions for 608 yards and five touchdowns in the 2023 season. Zay Jones, formerly with the Jacksonville Jaguars, recorded 82 catches for 823 yards and five touchdowns in 2022.

Despite facing challenges in recent seasons, both Reynolds and Jones are being considered to strengthen the team's receiving options. The Texans are conducting workouts for free agent receivers, and their interest in Reynolds and Jones indicates a desire for experienced players to enhance their offensive capabilities.

With Higgins unavailable for the remainder of the season, the Texans may depend on Xavier Hutchinson, Noel, and Dell to perform alongside star receiver Nico Collins. Further details on potential signings have not yet been disclosed.
