The Dallas Cowboys are preparing to play Baltimore in Rio de Janeiro, with the game scheduled for Maracanã Stadium. Social media questions followed Flamengo’s appearance at the venue, but coach Brian Schottenheimer said the team’s operations staff has been in contact with the league and he is not worried about the playing surface.
Dallas threw for 266 yards and totaled 66 yards on the ground in its 37-20 victory over Washington. Javonte Williams had 12 carries for 30 yards. Schottenheimer said the plan was to spread Washington’s defense and rely on the passing game, though he did not anticipate the rushing output being as low as 66 yards.
Owner and general manager Jerry Jones said the result has increased his optimism about the team and identified the running game as an area for improvement. He also said he would be willing to spend money to add to the roster.
Jones praised defensive tackles Quinnen Williams and Kenny Clark, calling Williams one of the NFL’s top players and citing Clark’s consistency as an important factor in the middle of the defense. Jones added that Quinnen Williams is not injured after appearing slow to get up following several plays against Washington.
