Baylor quarterback DJ Lagway is considered doubtful for Saturday’s game against Louisiana Tech as he recovers from an ankle injury, but On3 reporter Pete Nakos reported that Lagway is expected to be ready for the Bears’ Big 12 opener against Colorado on Sept. 26.

Lagway hurt the ankle in Baylor’s 17-16 season-opening loss to Auburn. He continued playing and produced 333 yards through the air, two touchdown throws and one interception. A wrap could be seen on the injured ankle. Baylor coach Dave Aranda said Lagway felt good during a Sunday practice, and the quarterback was expected to participate with the team during the week.

The injury kept Lagway out of Baylor’s 44-3 win over Prairie View A&M. Nate Bennett completed 24 of 36 passes for 314 yards, threw three touchdown passes and added a rushing touchdown in that game. If Lagway remains unavailable, Bennett could make his second consecutive start against Louisiana Tech.

Baylor is monitoring Lagway cautiously before starting Big 12 play. Colorado is set to play Northwestern before traveling to Baylor, where the matchup is slated for 10 a.m. MT Sept. 26. The game could feature Lagway and Colorado quarterback Julian Lewis if Lagway returns. Source: si.com
