Rookie linebacker Jaishawn Barham is set to handle the Dallas Cowboys’ defensive communication duties against the Washington Commanders in Week 2, according to sportingnews.com.

Coach Brian Schottenheimer said Barham will wear the green dot Sunday, allowing him to relay the defense’s calls. Defensive coordinator Christian Parker made the change as Dallas prepares for its NFC East matchup with Washington quarterback Jayden Daniels.

The adjustment follows Dallas’ 28-point loss to the New York Giants in Week 1, a game in which the Cowboys had difficulty slowing the Giants’ offense. Barham was selected by Dallas in the third round out of Michigan.

Both teams enter the matchup after losing to division opponents in their opening games. Dallas’ offense facing Washington’s defense, along with Barham’s performance in his new communication role, are key developments before the game.
