Avelo Airlines has announced plans to launch commercial passenger service at McKinney National Airport, with operations scheduled to begin on Wednesday, November 11. The Texas-based carrier will establish nonstop routes connecting the regional airport to Las Vegas, Nevada, as well as four destinations in Florida: Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers, Orlando, and Tampa.
The airline projects that the new operation will generate more than 100 jobs within the state. To attract initial customers, Avelo is offering introductory one-way fares starting at $99. Additionally, passengers who complete their bookings through the airline before the end of August will receive their first checked bag at no cost.
Andrew Levy, the founder and chief executive officer of Avelo Airlines, described the launch as a significant milestone for the carrier. He stated that the airline was designed for such opportunities and expressed enthusiasm about serving as the anchor carrier at the facility. Levy highlighted the company’s strategy of providing low fares, simplified airport procedures, and reliable scheduling as key benefits for travelers.
Local officials have welcomed the development. McKinney Mayor Bill Cox issued a statement thanking Avelo Airlines for its confidence in the regional market and for choosing to invest in the airport. He noted that the new service represents an exciting addition to the community’s transportation options.
Ken Carley, the director of McKinney National Airport, also commented on the partnership. He indicated that local travelers will benefit from the new service by saving both time and money. Carley emphasized that the airline is committed to addressing the travel needs of the area and investing in the local community.
