Avelo Airlines has officially announced the launch of commercial air service at McKinney National Airport, establishing itself as the region’s first and only hometown airline. The new route network will connect McKinney to Las Vegas and four cities in Florida, with operations commencing in mid-November 2026. McKinney is located approximately 11 miles south of Anna.
Service is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, November 11, with the inaugural flight departing for Fort Myers, Florida. Subsequent routes will open over the following week, including nonstop flights to Orlando, Las Vegas, Fort Lauderdale, and Tampa. The airline will utilize 184-seat Boeing Next-Generation 737-800 aircraft for these routes. Weekly frequencies vary by destination, ranging from twice-weekly service to Fort Myers to five times weekly for Orlando and Fort Lauderdale.
The introduction of this service is expected to generate more than 100 new local jobs at the Texas-based carrier’s new base. To encourage early bookings, Avelo is offering introductory one-way fares starting at $99. Travelers who make reservations through July will receive their first checked bag at no additional cost. Reservations can be made through the airline’s website.
Andrew Levy, founder and chief executive officer of Avelo Airlines, stated that the company was designed for this expansion and expressed enthusiasm about becoming the anchor carrier at McKinney. He highlighted the airline’s low fares, the convenience of the local airport, and its on-time performance as key benefits for North Texas travelers. Levy noted that Collin County is one of the fastest-growing areas in the nation and that the airline is proud to be a Texas-born company investing in the region.
City of McKinney Mayor Bill Cox welcomed the announcement, noting that the new service aligns with the city’s growing role in the North Texas region. He emphasized that the demand for convenient air travel closer to home reinforces McKinney’s appeal to residents and businesses. Cox thanked the airline for its confidence in the regional market and its investment in the airport.
