Anna’s offense established control early and maintained it throughout Friday night, defeating Frisco Panther Creek 42-27 in their District 4-5A Division II opener at Toyota Stadium. The victory improves the Zephyrs to 3-0 on the season.
Senior running back Juelz Carter was the primary catalyst for Anna’s offensive output. He recorded four total touchdowns, accounting for two rushing scores and two receiving marks. Carter finished with 225 total yards of offense, including 166 yards through the air on six receptions and 60 yards on the ground.
Quarterback Zephyr Kreye also contributed significantly to the win. He passed for 166 yards and three touchdowns while adding a rushing score. The Anna defense limited Panther Creek’s ground game, holding them to just 91 rushing yards despite Tristin Schramm throwing for a game-high 254 passing yards and Shawn White gaining 89 rushing yards.
Anna built a commanding lead before halftime. After Carter scored on a 77-yard run early in the second quarter, he added another 13-yard touchdown just before the break to extend the advantage to 28 points. Panther Creek attempted a comeback with two third-quarter touchdowns and a late score with 20 seconds remaining, but Anna’s defense secured the win.
The matchup featured two undefeated teams entering the contest. The programs previously met in the 2023 playoffs, where Anna won 42-38 en route to the 4A Division I state title. Both schools have since moved to the 5A Division II classification.
