Veterans, service members getting ready to leave the military and military spouses looking for work will have four chances in North Texas next month to meet employers face to face, as the Texas Workforce Commission runs its 15th annual Hiring Red, White & You! series.

The agency announced the series Monday. It includes nearly 30 free hiring events around the state between Nov. 2 and Nov. 20, run with local Workforce Solutions boards, the Texas Veterans Commission and the Texas Medical Center.

Events closest to Collin County

The commission's event list includes these North Texas stops:

  • Dallas, Wednesday, Nov. 4: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Gilley's Dallas, 1135 Botham Jean Blvd., hosted by Workforce Solutions Greater Dallas. The City of Dallas, Dallas County and Plastipak are among the employers listed.
  • Denison, Thursday, Nov. 5: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Eisenhower Business Center, 2415 S. Austin Ave., Suite 103, hosted by Workforce Solutions Texoma. Listed employers include Eaton, Texas Instruments and Texoma Care.
  • Arlington, Thursday, Nov. 5: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Globe Life Field, 734 Stadium Drive, hosted by Workforce Solutions for Tarrant County, with Bell Textron, Lockheed Martin and the U.S. Secret Service among those named.
  • Allen, Thursday, Nov. 19: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 777 Watters Creek Blvd., hosted by Workforce Solutions for North Central Texas.

Most of the listings link to separate registration pages for job seekers and for employers on the commission's Hiring Red, White & You! page.

Track record

Since the series began in 2012, the commission says, the events have drawn more than 28,000 employers and 167,000 job seekers, including 56,157 people who were active-duty, transitioning, veterans or military spouses. More than 4,100 people were hired on the spot.

"More than 1.4 million veterans call our great state home," Gov. Greg Abbott said in the commission's announcement. TWC Chairman Joe Esparza called the series a way of thanking veterans by linking them directly with employers.

Texas Veterans Commission Chairwoman Laura Koerner, a Navy veteran, said the events open doors for veterans, people leaving the service and military spouses.

For employers

Businesses can take part at no cost. The commission also runs a WeHireVets program that recognizes employers whose workforces are at least 10% veterans. Information on the state's other services for veterans is at twc.texas.gov/veterans.
