Dallas is about 42 miles south of Anna. Departing flights at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport were running roughly 49 minutes behind schedule Monday, while FlightAware reported hundreds of cancellations at DFW. Dallas Love Field also experienced disruptions after a technical failure at a Federal Aviation Administration air traffic control facility in Philadelphia.
The Philadelphia center manages traffic involving Kennedy, LaGuardia and Newark airports, and the outage affected airports nationwide. The facility’s main data circuit failed Monday morning. When staff moved to the backup connection, they discovered that construction work by an Amtrak crew had cut a fiber-optic line, Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said.
The same facility was associated with significant disruptions at Newark Liberty International Airport in spring 2025.
FAA Administrator Bryan Bedford said a new circuit could restore the primary connection faster while repairs proceeded on the backup line. Verizon technicians were working on restoration, and Bedford said fixing the fiber might require about 13 hours. The main circuit had already been slated for replacement as part of a nationwide air traffic control modernization effort.
Some service had resumed at LaGuardia, Kennedy and Philadelphia by early afternoon, though major delays were expected through the rest of the day. Airlines allowed some customers to change flights without fees, and the FAA advised checking flight status with the airline before traveling to the airport.
