A single reported shooting in Johnson County was determined to be a false call, county officials said. The incident was treated as a possible swatting case, a type of false report intended to bring a substantial law enforcement response to a location without the occupants’ knowledge.
Johnson County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrived at County Road 1230 at approximately 8:30 a.m. Monday after receiving the report. The people at the site were safe, and deputies found nothing indicating that a shooting had taken place. Officials said the circumstances followed the pattern of a swatting incident.
