Four Home Runs Decide the Score

A total of four home runs determined the outcome of Sunday’s matchup between the Seattle Mariners and the Houston Astros. The away team secured a 3-2 victory at Daikin Park, where 27,971 fans witnessed a slugfest that featured significant distance from both sides.

The Mariners’ ability to generate power early and late proved decisive against the Astros’ pitching staff, resulting in a final score that reflected the high volume of extra-base hits.

Arozarena Opens the Scoring

The game began with a bang in the top of the first inning. Julio Arozarena connected with a drive to left center that traveled 365 feet, putting Seattle on the board with a 1-0 lead. Houston responded in the third inning when Rodden scored on a single by Canzone, narrowing the gap to 2-0.

However, the Astros found their footing in the fourth inning when Peña launched a 369-foot home run to right field, cutting the deficit to 2-1. The momentum shifted back to Seattle in the sixth inning, where Raleigh hit a 327-foot home run to left field to extend the lead to 3-1.

Allen added a 387-foot blast to left field for Houston, but it was not enough to overcome the deficit.

Pitching Battle and Final Records

Bryan Woo earned the win for Seattle, pitching six innings while allowing three hits and two earned runs. He also walked one batter and struck out five. Hunter Brown took the loss for Houston after five innings, during which he allowed three hits and two earned runs while walking five and striking out five.

The bullpen played a crucial role, with Eduard Bazardo, Gabe Speier, and Seranthony Dominguez all recording no earned runs in their respective stints. Andres Munoz closed the game with one inning of work, allowing no hits and one walk while striking out two. The victory improved Seattle’s record to 59-66, while Houston fell to 63-62.

The game featured a balanced offensive display, with both teams managing to drive in runs through powerful hitting and timely contact.
