Four Home Runs Decide the Score
A total of four home runs determined the outcome of Sunday’s matchup between the Seattle Mariners and the Houston Astros. The away team secured a 3-2 victory at Daikin Park, where 27,971 fans witnessed a slugfest that featured significant distance from both sides.
The Mariners’ ability to generate power early and late proved decisive against the Astros’ pitching staff, resulting in a final score that reflected the high volume of extra-base hits.
Arozarena Opens the Scoring
The game began with a bang in the top of the first inning. Julio Arozarena connected with a drive to left center that traveled 365 feet, putting Seattle on the board with a 1-0 lead. Houston responded in the third inning when Rodden scored on a single by Canzone, narrowing the gap to 2-0.
However, the Astros found their footing in the fourth inning when Peña launched a 369-foot home run to right field, cutting the deficit to 2-1. The momentum shifted back to Seattle in the sixth inning, where Raleigh hit a 327-foot home run to left field to extend the lead to 3-1.
Allen added a 387-foot blast to left field for Houston, but it was not enough to overcome the deficit.
