Baltimore Outlasts Houston 4-2 in 11 Innings

Orioles Extend Winning Streak

The Baltimore Orioles secured their sixth consecutive victory with a 4-2 win over the Houston Astros on Saturday at Daikin Park. The contest required 11 innings to produce a final result, with Baltimore’s bullpen holding the home team scoreless after the seventh inning to preserve the lead.

Scoring Sequence

Baltimore established early control in the fourth inning. Beavers doubled to right field, driving in Alonso, who scored from first base. Basallo advanced to third during the play, giving the Orioles a 1-0 advantage that held until the seventh inning.

In the bottom of the seventh, Houston tied the game when Allen hit a sacrifice bunt to the pitcher. Dezenzo scored from first, and Spence moved to second, making the score 1-1.

The game remained deadlocked through the ninth inning. In the top of the 10th, Baltimore reclaimed the lead. Jackson hit a sacrifice bunt to first base, allowing Taveras to score from first while Encarnacion-Strand advanced to second.

The Orioles added another run later in the same inning when Alvarez hit a ground rule double. Spence scored from first, and Allen moved to third, pushing the score to 2-1.

The decisive runs came in the 11th inning. O'Neill reached on an infield single to second base, scoring Henderson and advancing Ward to second. Two batters later, Taveras singled to right field, bringing Ward home and O'Neill to third. The final score of 4-2 stood for the remainder of the game.

Pitching Performances

Trevor Rogers started for Baltimore, pitching 6.1 innings and allowing one earned run on seven hits while striking out eight batters. Rico Garcia entered in relief, pitching 0.2 innings. Yennier Cano and Tyler Wells each pitched a scoreless inning. Andrew Kittredge earned the win, pitching one inning and allowing two hits. Cam Sanders recorded the save, pitching a perfect inning with one strikeout.

For Houston, Spencer Arrighetti started, throwing 5.0 innings with one earned run and six strikeouts. AJ Blubaugh pitched 2.0 innings, and Bryan Abreu and Josh Hader each pitched one scoreless inning. Hader recorded three strikeouts. Steven Okert pitched one inning, and Enyel De Los Santos took the loss after pitching one inning with one earned run and two strikeouts.
