Voters headed to the Anna Community Library on the first day of early voting faced one of the longest waits in Collin County late Monday morning, according to the county's live wait-time map.
At about 11:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 19, the Collin County Elections map, which reports wait times in minutes, listed the library's multipurpose room at 111 W. Fifth St. at 60 minutes. It was one of four early voting sites at that level, along with Haggard Library in Plano, Renner-Frankford Library in the Collin County part of Dallas and Prosper Town Hall.
Nine sites showed 30 minutes, including Melissa City Hall, and 29 of the county's 42 early voting sites showed no wait.
The figures change through the day, so voters can check the map before leaving home.
Printer problems
Earlier Monday, NBC 5 reported that some voters in Collin County were turned away because of trouble with ballot printers. The county's election official confirmed printer issues at about 10 early voting locations, told the station the problem was not countywide and said service had been restored. NBC 5 cited reports at the Liberty Recreation Center in Plano.
It was not clear how long the problems lasted or how many people left without voting, the station said. Neither report said whether the Anna site was affected.
Other options
Collin County voters can cast a ballot at any of the county's early voting locations, according to the elections office, so a shorter line elsewhere is an option.
