Lee homers twice as Giants beat Rangers 5-1 at Globe Life Field

Lee supplies the power

Two home runs from Lee helped San Francisco build and protect a lead Tuesday, and the Giants beat the Texas Rangers 5-1 at Globe Life Field in Arlington.

Lee homered to right center in the third inning, a 410-foot shot that made it 3-0, and added another homer to right center in the eighth, this one listed at 385 feet, for a 4-0 lead. He also hit a sacrifice fly to center in the ninth, scoring McCray and pushing San Francisco ahead 5-0.

Giants strike early

San Francisco scored twice in the top of the second. Gilbert singled to right, and Susac scored on a fielding error by right fielder Nimmo, with Gilbert moving to third on the play. Basabe followed with a sacrifice fly to right that scored Gilbert and put the Giants up 2-0.

Lee’s first homer in the top of the third extended the margin to 3-0. The score stayed there until Lee’s second homer in the top of the eighth. San Francisco added its final run in the top of the ninth on Lee’s sacrifice fly.

Texas scored its only run in the bottom of the ninth when Duran homered to left, a 406-foot drive that made it 5-1. The game had exactly three home runs: two by Lee and one by Duran.

Webb holds Texas down

Logan Webb earned the win for San Francisco, improving to 7-7 after allowing five hits over six scoreless innings. He walked one and struck out eight.

Keaton Winn recorded two outs, allowing one hit with no walks and one strikeout. Sam Hentges pitched 1 1/3 innings without allowing a hit or an earned run, walking one and striking out one. Tristan Beck allowed one hit, one earned run and one walk in one-third of an inning. Reiver Sanmartin recorded two outs without allowing a hit or a walk.

Quantrill takes the loss

Cal Quantrill took the loss for Texas, falling to 4-4. He allowed four hits and one earned run in six innings, with one walk and four strikeouts.

Ben Peoples pitched one inning without allowing a hit or an earned run, walking one and striking out one. Peyton Gray allowed one hit and one earned run in one inning, and Nolan Kingham allowed one hit and one earned run in one inning.

The announced attendance was 23,736. Texas fell to 55-58, while San Francisco improved to 48-65.
