Angels Offense Explodes

The Los Angeles Angels delivered a lopsided 13-1 victory over the Texas Rangers on Thursday, July 9, at Globe Life Field in Arlington. The final score reflected a complete offensive dominance by the visiting club, which outscored the home team by twelve runs.

Zach Neto contributed early and often for Los Angeles. In the first inning, Neto scored after Grissom singled to left field, giving the Angels an initial 1-0 lead. Neto added another run in the fifth inning when Grissom singled to left again, advancing Neto to second base before Trout moved to third. Neto also scored in the sixth inning when Grissom doubled to right, driving in two additional runs to extend the lead to 9-0.

Power Display in Middle Innings

Zach Adell provided significant firepower with two home runs. In the fourth inning, Adell homered to right field, a 359-foot shot that scored Grissom and increased the Angels' advantage to 3-0. Later in the fifth inning, Adell launched a 433-foot home run to center field, a three-run blast that scored both Trout and Grissom, pushing the score to 7-0.

Mike Trout also made his presence felt with two hits that changed the game's momentum. Trout scored in the fifth inning following Neto's run. In the eighth inning, Trout homered to left-center field, a 438-foot shot that scored Lowe and made the score 11-0.

Rangers Score and Pitching Changes

The Rangers managed their only run in the eighth inning when Kyle Higashioka homered to left-center field, a 389-foot shot that scored Pederson. This cut the deficit to 11-1. Higashioka also took the mound for Texas, pitching the ninth inning and allowing two hits and two earned runs.

In the ninth inning, the Angels added two more runs. Peraza hit a sacrifice fly to right field, scoring Adell, and Siri singled to left field, scoring Guzman to make it 13-1.

Pitching Performance and Records

MacKenzie Gore started for Texas, pitching five innings and allowing nine hits and seven earned runs while striking out seven batters. He took the loss, dropping his record to 5-8. Gavin Collyer, Ben Peoples, and Robby Ahlstrom also pitched for the Rangers, combining to allow five more earned runs.

The Angels' bullpen was effective in preserving the large lead. Walbert Urena pitched four innings, allowing one hit and no earned runs with five walks and three strikeouts. Samy Natera Jr. pitched two scoreless innings with five strikeouts to earn the win, improving to 1-0. Ryan Zeferjahn, Jose Fermin, and Mitch Farris each pitched one inning, with Fermin allowing one earned run.

With the win, the Los Angeles Angels improved their record to 37-56. The Texas Rangers fell to 46-46. The game drew an attendance of 23,288 spectators.
