Burger's Key Hits Drive Rangers Victory

Jake Burger provided the offensive spark for the Texas Rangers, delivering a two-run home run and an RBI single in a 5-4 win against the Seattle Mariners on Saturday. Burger’s performance proved decisive at Globe Life Field in Arlington, where the Rangers improved their record to 52-51 while the Mariners fell to 51-53.

The Rangers took the lead in the fourth inning when Burger launched a 362-foot home run to right field. The blast extended the Rangers' advantage to 3-1, with teammate Josh Duran crossing the plate alongside the home run. Burger added another RBI later in the sixth inning, singling to center field to drive in Mark Canzone, who had reached base earlier in the frame.

Burger finished the game with two home runs and three runs batted in.

Scoring Sequence and Game Flow

Seattle Mariners opened the scoring in the first inning when Luke Raley homered to left field, giving the visitors a 1-0 lead. The Rangers tied the game in the second inning when Marcus Semien singled to right field, allowing Wyatt Langford to score.

The Mariners regained the lead in the fifth inning on a double by Canzone that scored two runs, making it 3-2 Seattle. Seattle added another run in the sixth when a sacrifice bunt by Josh Smith allowed Canzone to score from third base, pushing the margin to 4-3. Burger’s RBI single in the bottom of the sixth tied the game at 4-4.

The game remained tied until the ninth inning, where a wild pitch by Seattle Mariners reliever Jacob Latz allowed a runner to score, giving the Rangers a 5-4 lead. The Rangers held on for the win, with Latz earning the save.

Pitching Performances

Bryce Miller started for Seattle, pitching 5.1 innings and allowing five earned runs on six hits. He took the loss, dropping his record to 4-5. Miller was supported by Eduard Bazardo, who pitched 0.2 innings with one strikeout, and Michael Rucker, who recorded two innings and three strikeouts.

MacKenzie Gore started for Texas, throwing 5.0 innings with five strikeouts but allowing three earned runs on seven hits. Peyton Gray earned the win by pitching a perfect inning with two strikeouts. Jakob Junis and Tyler Alexander combined for two innings of scoreless relief, each earning a hold. Cole Winn pitched the final third of an inning without allowing a hit.
