A Defining Moment
A single swing in the bottom of the sixth inning shifted the momentum entirely. With the Texas Rangers trailing 3-2, Josh Jung’s teammate Corey Seager reached base via a center-field single. That set the stage for Langford, who launched a 421-foot home run to left-center field, driving in Seager and instantly putting the Rangers ahead 4-3.
The blast proved to be the decisive offensive play of the contest, breaking a tie that had persisted after the Athletics’ early surge.
Early Lead and Late Rally
The game began with the visiting Rangers falling behind quickly. In the top of the second inning, the Athletics capitalized on an overturned umpire call during a review. Bolte homered 341 feet to left field, bringing home Serven and Williams for a 3-0 lead that seemed insurmountable at the time.
Texas finally got on the board in the fifth when Lopez singled to center field, allowing Burger to score and trim the deficit to 3-1.
The Rangers continued their effort in the sixth, but it was Langford’s homer that provided the go-ahead run. The Athletics attempted to hold onto their slim margin, but Texas added an insurance run in the ninth inning. Kelenic singled to center field, allowing Carter to score from second base, where Burger had advanced. The final tally stood at 5-3.
