The Houston Texans have added wide receiver Mitchell Tinsley to their practice squad, according to a report from The 33rd Team’s Ari Meirov on August 31. Tinsley, who is 26 years old and stands 6 feet 1 inch tall, previously played for the Cincinnati Bengals.
During his time with the Bengals, he recorded a total of eight receptions, accumulating 116 yards and scoring two touchdowns last season. His exit from Cincinnati was influenced by the team's strong wide receiver lineup, which sparked interest from several other teams.
Analyst Paul Dehner Jr. from The Athletic noted that Tinsley likely perceives a greater chance for playing time in Houston, especially as the Texans have been looking to strengthen their wide receiver lineup this month. He now joins teammates Lewis Bond and Josh Kelly on the Texans' practice squad, as reported by Sleeper affiliate Jacob Barzilla.
Tinsley had a notable preseason in 2025, which contributed to his initial placement on the Bengals' roster.
Tinsley, who went undrafted, has participated in 19 regular-season games, making four starts. He is recognized as a possession receiver with solid ball-handling skills, although he may not have the speed for separation. NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein described him as adept at making challenging catches, particularly in traffic, despite some athletic limitations that might restrict him to a slot role.
