Texas A&M will keep Marcel Reed at quarterback after the No. 23 Aggies fell 35-6 to No. 10 LSU. Coach Mike Elko said he is not considering a change at the position. Asked whether Reed could be benched, Elko answered, "No." TexAgs shared the exchange on X, and Yahoo Sports reported it.
Reed completed 10 of 26 passes for 106 yards against LSU and threw one interception. His 38.4% completion rate was described in the report as potentially the lowest of his college career. Through four games this season, he has 738 passing yards, six touchdowns and four interceptions, completing 55.4% of his attempts, a career-low rate. He also has 104 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown.
Reed previously threw for 3,169 yards and 25 touchdowns in a stronger season. Texas A&M is scheduled to face Arkansas in Week 5 on Oct. 3 at 7 p.m. EST. The Razorbacks also are 2-2.
