The Houston Texans will face the Cincinnati Bengals without Nico Collins after a Grade 1 hamstring injury kept the wide receiver out of the team’s final two practices. The injury occurred during Wednesday’s practice, and Houston listed Collins as out on its final injury report.
Collins’ status for Houston’s Week 3 meeting with the Indianapolis Colts remains unresolved and is still being evaluated, according to a report by Aaron Wilson. No additional information about when Collins might return was provided.
Houston expects several players to share Collins’ role against Cincinnati. Kayshon Boutte, Xavier Hutchinson and Jaylin Noel could see increased opportunities, while Jayden Higgins is unavailable because of a season-ending ACL injury. C.J. Stroud threw passes to 11 players in the season opener, giving the Texans multiple receiving options as they pursue their first victory.
Collins opened the season with seven catches, 75 yards and a touchdown in Houston’s 36-31 defeat against Buffalo. He has been one of the Texans’ top offensive contributors during the last three seasons.
