ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported the development on X, referencing information from Schefter and RapSheet. Houston exercised Stroud’s fifth-year option, leaving the quarterback signed through the 2027 season. That arrangement does not determine what happens after that season, and the report said both sides continue to want a long-term agreement.
Possible contract terms reported this offseason have included $50 million to $55 million, while another figure of approximately $70 million has also been discussed. The specific amounts exchanged, as well as how near the sides were to completing a deal, remain unclear.
