The Houston Texans have made a trade to acquire wide receiver Kayshon Boutte from the New England Patriots. Boutte confirmed the deal on social media prior to any official announcements from either team. Reports indicate that Houston exchanged safety Jaylen Reed along with a seventh-round draft pick for 2028 to obtain Boutte.
This transaction follows the injury of Texans' wide receiver Jayden Higgins, who sustained a torn ACL during a joint practice with the Las Vegas Raiders. Higgins was anticipated to play a significant role alongside star receiver Nico Collins. Last season, he achieved 41 receptions for 525 yards and six touchdowns as a rookie.
Kayshon Boutte, selected in the sixth round of the 2023 NFL Draft, had a strong previous season, recording 33 catches for 551 yards and six touchdowns. The Patriots had an excess of wide receivers after acquiring A.J. Brown in June and signing Romeo Doubs to a four-year, $68 million contract in March.
In addition to Boutte, the Texans have also signed veteran receivers Zay Jones and Sterling Shepard as they aim to address the gap left by Higgins' injury. Details regarding the Texans' strategy for the upcoming season remain unclear.
