North Crowley offensive tackle Gabriel Brooks announced Sept. 17 that he is joining TCU’s 2027 recruiting class after previously committing to Stephen F. Austin. He said discussions with his family and personal prayer shaped the decision, which he also described as a way to stay close to home.

Brooks, who is 6 feet 5 inches tall and weighs 265 pounds, has been offered mainly by Football Championship Subdivision schools, including Stephen F. Austin and Southern University. TCU is his first Football Bowl Subdivision offer, and Brooks selected the chance to compete in a Power Four conference.

North Crowley began the season 3-0 with victories over Aledo, Southlake Carroll and Summer Creek, which is from the Houston area. The Panthers are set to visit Duncanville at 7 p.m. Friday. Brooks is the 19th commitment in TCU’s 2027 group, which sports.yahoo.com reported is 54th nationally and eighth in the Big 12.
