A temporary restraining order from a Dallas court has enabled 18 college football players, including Ahmaad Moses from SMU, to return for a fifth year of eligibility in the 2026 season. This decision comes just ahead of the college football season, following the Wisne v. NCAA ruling on July 31, which allowed athletes graduating high school in 2022 to extend their eligibility.
The NCAA's appeal against this ruling has been temporarily halted by the new injunction.
Ahmaad Moses, who was a First Team All-ACC selection in 2025, has played 54 games and started 19 during his time with the Mustangs. He contributed significantly to SMU’s success, including a conference title in 2023 and a College Football Playoff appearance in 2024. Last season, he led the team with 104 tackles and five interceptions.
Moses's performance peaked during a game against Miami (FL), where he achieved a career-high of 15 tackles and two interceptions. He declared for the NFL Draft after the 2025 season but faced challenges due to a herniated disk that required spinal fusion surgery, which has affected his professional prospects.
He has been participating in fall camp and is expected to play in the Mustangs’ season opener against Florida State on September 7, barring any NCAA appeals. The list of players benefiting from the ruling also includes names like Jordan Hudson and D’Mon Brinson, among others.
