The Dallas Cowboys’ secondary faced another setback against the Baltimore Ravens when starting safety Jalen Thompson injured his left leg during a second-quarter tackle attempt. Thompson could not put weight on the leg, walked to the blue medical tent for evaluation and was listed as questionable to return with a hamstring injury.

The team entered the game without free safety Malik Hooker, who has a forearm injury from Week 1, and starting cornerback Cobie Durant, who suffered a hamstring issue in Week 2. PJ Locke, who replaced Hooker, is also out with a foot injury. The Cowboys are preparing for Week 3 against the Ravens.

Before the game, Dallas promoted slot defender Reddy Steward from its practice squad. Rookie first-round pick Caleb Downs, who has college experience at safety, has also been on the practice squad. After Thompson left, Alijah Clark took over at safety alongside Markquese Bell.

Bell was called for a defensive pass interference penalty that helped set up a first-half touchdown by Derrick Henry. Additional information about Thompson’s condition and any effect on the Cowboys’ defensive approach was not yet clear.
