The Houston Cougars have strengthened their defense by signing safety Myles Rowser, who previously played for the Arizona State Sun Devils. This move follows the new NCAA eligibility rules that grant players from the class of 2022 an additional season if they did not redshirt or sign an NFL contract.
Rowser, who did not redshirt his freshman year, played nine games for the Campbell Camels. He attended a rookie minicamp with the Seattle Seahawks but did not secure a professional contract. His collegiate career includes time at Campbell in 2022, New Mexico State in 2023, and Arizona State from 2024 to 2025.
Over his career, Rowser has accumulated 295 total tackles, with 8.5 tackles for loss and two interceptions. In the 2025 season at Arizona State, he achieved a career-high of 84 tackles and earned a spot on the All-Big 12 Third Team.
The Cougars already have a solid safety lineup with veterans Kentrell Webb and Jordan Allen, who recorded 71 and 48 tackles respectively last season. They also added Tulane safety Javion White, who made 50 tackles last year. Rowser's addition may lead to adjustments in the lineup, potentially moving one of the safeties to the nickel corner position, enhancing the Cougars' competitiveness in the Big 12.
