Baylor University quarterback DJ Lagway's status for the upcoming game against Prairie View A&M remains uncertain as he is currently considered day-to-day due to an ankle injury, according to head coach Dave Aranda. The decision on Lagway's availability will hinge on his performance in practice this week.

In his debut with the Bears, Lagway completed 27 of 54 passes for 333 yards, recording two touchdowns and one interception in a close 17-16 loss to Auburn. The Bears missed a critical two-point conversion attempt that could have changed the outcome of the game.

Auburn head coach Alex Golesh commended Lagway's determination, highlighting his ability to continue competing despite being injured. Golesh remarked on Lagway's toughness, stating, "If you’ve got any question on how tough that kid is... he got banged up early, and that is a tough, tough football player."

Lagway, who transferred to Baylor after two seasons with the Florida Gators, was a highly touted recruit ranked No. 3 in his class. He initially started for Florida before entering the transfer portal following a coaching change. His time at Florida included a challenging season, finishing with 2,264 passing yards, 16 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions.

Tim Tebow, a former Florida quarterback, noted that Lagway might thrive at Baylor, suggesting he could play with greater joy and confidence. Further updates on Lagway's injury are pending.
