The Houston Texans are considering offensive line changes before Sunday’s AFC South opener against the Indianapolis Colts at Lucas Oil Stadium. Houston dropped to 0-2 after losing 20-6 at home to the Cincinnati Bengals.
Coach DeMeco Ryans discussed the situation Wednesday at the Houston Methodist Training Center. C.J. Stroud was pressured on 45.5% of his dropbacks against Cincinnati’s man coverage, and the Texans ran for 18 yards on 12 attempts.
Right tackle Trent Brown faced criticism for his performance. Blake Fisher, a 2024 second-round selection from Notre Dame, is a possible option at the position after a strong training camp. Wyatt Teller could also take on a full-time starting guard role beside rookie center Keylan Rutledge.
Houston has not announced whether Fisher or Teller will start against the Colts.
Indianapolis will be without receiver Alec Pierce, who went on injured reserve because of a heel injury, Colts coach Shane Steichen said. The team signed veteran Darius Slayton and placed Eli Pancol on its practice squad. Josh Downs, Keenan Allen and rookie tight end Tyler Warren are among the remaining receiving options, with Taylor described as an underneath threat.
Houston is waiting for the official status of Pro Bowl receiver Nico Collins, who has a hamstring issue. The Texans have won the AFC South after 0-2 starts in 2018 and 2023. Sunday’s victor will move to 1-0 in the division tiebreaker, while the loser will be 0-3.
