The Dallas Cowboys have revised the contracts of Jake Ferguson, DaRon Bland, and Kenny Clark to improve their financial flexibility as they prepare for the 2026 NFL season. This is part of a broader strategy involving multiple contract modifications during the offseason aimed at creating additional salary cap room.
Bland and Ferguson have both received contract extensions, with Bland's new four-year deal valued at $92 million, extending his time with the Cowboys through 2030. Ferguson has also signed a four-year extension worth $52 million, keeping him with the team until 2030 as well. Meanwhile, Clark's contract has undergone a second restructuring this offseason, now extending through the 2028 season.
These changes provide the Cowboys with enhanced options for potential roster adjustments. Team owner Jerry Jones expressed optimism about the team's prospects, indicating that while there are no active plans for major acquisitions, they are receptive to opportunities that could strengthen their lineup.
"I'm even more excited today than I was when we started camp that our team is going to be one that if we can have some things go right for us, avoid some injury, we could really be something that we all want to be, and that's a team that's competing for the big game," Jones stated during training camp in Oxnard, California.
While these contract modifications do not necessarily indicate a pursuit of high-profile players, they do offer the Cowboys greater flexibility for potential moves during the season and positively impact their salary cap situation for 2027.
