The Dallas Cowboys reportedly added Tyler Goodson on Tuesday after Malik Davis suffered a hip injury requiring surgery. Davis will miss the rest of the season, leaving Dallas to adjust its running back group and special teams personnel.
Goodson, 25, played 33 games for Indianapolis over the past three seasons. He ran 54 times for 264 yards, averaging 4.9 yards per carry, and logged 304 special teams snaps over the previous two seasons. The report listed him at 5 feet 9 inches and 200 pounds.
Emari Demercado handled the No. 2 running back role against the Giants, carrying twice for 7 yards behind Javonte Williams. Williams had 12 of Dallas’ 18 rushing attempts and added five catches for 35 yards and a touchdown. He began his NFL path as a 2023 undrafted free agent with Green Bay, which released him before Indianapolis picked him up. After the Colts released him, Goodson attended Atlanta’s training camp, returned to the Falcons’ practice squad after clearing waivers and later joined Dallas. The impact on Israel Abanikanda, who had been elevated from the practice squad for Week 1, was not clear.
