Dallas expects Jonathan Bullard to miss three to five weeks with a calf injury, while safety Jalen Thompson is expected to be out at least four weeks because of a hamstring problem. Both were injured during the Cowboys' first three regular-season games.
The setbacks followed Dallas' loss to the Baltimore Ravens in Rio. Brian Schottenheimer said Tuesday that cornerback Shavon Revel was making progress and might practice this week, leaving open the possibility of playing against Houston in Week 4. The Cowboys have not confirmed his availability. Revel has knee and ankle issues.
Bullard had been sidelined for most of training camp by another injury. Thompson could be placed on injured reserve with a designation to return, joining safety P.J. Locke.
Dallas also does not plan to take Cobie Durant to South Texas while he recovers from a hamstring injury. Malik Hooker, who fractured his forearm in the season opener, could require more recovery time, while DeMarvion Overshown may return to practice after missing two games with a hamstring injury.
The Cowboys have worked out multiple players, including former safety Juanyeh Thomas, as first-year defensive coordinator Christian Parker deals with a reduced safety group before Dallas visits the Texans, who remain winless.
