The Philadelphia Eagles have signed running back Jaydon Blue, who was recently released by the Dallas Cowboys. Blue, a former fifth-round pick from the University of Texas, struggled with maturity issues that limited his opportunities during his rookie season. Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer stated that Blue was unlikely to return to the team's practice squad, confirming his exit.

In a corresponding move, the Cowboys have added Emari Demercado, who previously played for the Arizona Cardinals, to enhance their running back lineup. Standing at 5 feet 11 inches and weighing 215 pounds, Demercado has shown versatility, averaging 6.5 yards per carry in Arizona.

He improved his performance to 9.3 yards per attempt in 2024, accumulating 819 rushing yards and three touchdowns over three seasons with the Cardinals.

Currently, the Cowboys' running back group features Malik Davis as the backup option, while Hunter Luepke serves as a fullback. Israel Abanikanda has also been brought back to the practice squad. The status of second-year running back Phil Mafah is unclear, as the Cowboys monitor Blue's performance with the Eagles, hoping he does not excel in a rival team’s colors.

This situation illustrates how players can shift from one team to another, impacting their former and new organizations alike.
