The Houston Texans will face the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday without wide receiver Nico Collins, according to a ruling reported by sports.yahoo.com and attributed to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. Collins missed Houston’s loss to Cincinnati after suffering a Grade 1 hamstring strain during practice last week, and he also missed practice this week. No recovery timeline was provided.
Both Houston and Indianapolis are 0-2 entering the matchup, with each team seeking its first victory. The Texans scored six points in a 20-6 defeat against the Bengals, while the Colts have given up 354 rushing yards and an average of 5.4 yards per carry in two games.
Tight end Dalton Schultz may have a larger role for Houston. He caught 12 of the 14 passes thrown to him against Cincinnati, totaling 140 yards, with eight of those receptions coming in the fourth quarter. Schultz has 16 catches for 175 yards this season, both team highs.
Houston could also turn to additional tight ends or its running game. David Montgomery and Woody Marks had limited production against Cincinnati, as the Texans’ running backs averaged 1.5 yards per attempt. The available receivers include Kayshon Boutte, Xavier Hutchinson, Jaylin Noel and Jared Wayne.
