Baylor defensive lineman Devonte Tezino will miss the rest of the season, coach Dave Aranda confirmed after the team’s game against Prairie View A&M. Safety Jacob Redding also has a season-ending injury, leaving Baylor without two starters.
Tezino was hurt on Baylor’s second offensive play from scrimmage when a Prairie View A&M offensive lineman made a cut block. He called for medical personnel and was later taken from the field by cart.
The fifth-year senior from Killeen began the season with two sacks and a tipped pass that became an interception against Auburn. Aranda said Tezino had been playing the best football of his career before the injury. Tezino had dealt with injuries last fall but played in all 12 games, starting seven.
He recorded 24 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, one sack and one pass breakup that season. In 29 games at Baylor, he has 56 tackles. Baylor has depth on its defensive line.
