Baylor has made a scholarship offer to Bear Acy, a five-star basketball prospect ranked No. 7 nationally in the 2029 class. Acy has not announced a decision, and the offer is not described as his only recruiting opportunity. Additional offers are likely, according to a report from SI.com.
Acy, who is listed at 6 feet, 7 inches, is the son of former Baylor forward Quincy Acy. Quincy Acy played for the Bears from 2008 to 2012, earned a place on the All-Big 12 Defensive Team for the 2011-12 season and built a reputation near the basket through scoring, rebounding and shot blocking.
The younger Acy is described as capable of making an impact offensively and defensively. His listed abilities include protecting the basket, interrupting passes and producing blocks and deflections.
The offer could allow Baylor coach Scott Drew to lead another member of the Acy family. Drew coached Quincy Acy throughout his four seasons at Baylor. Before becoming Baylor’s head coach in 2003, Drew was an assistant under his father, Hall of Fame coach Homer Drew, at Valparaiso. It is unclear whether the family relationship will affect Bear Acy’s choice.
