Baylor's New Quarterback DJ Lagway to Start Against Auburn in Atlanta

DJ Lagway is poised to make his first appearance as the starting quarterback for Baylor in a significant Week 1 game against Auburn, which will occur at a neutral venue in Atlanta. Both teams are eager to improve upon their previous season, where they ended with matching records of 5-7.

Last season, Baylor's passing offense was primarily driven by Sawyer Robertson, who achieved 3,681 passing yards, completing 31 touchdown passes while throwing 12 interceptions and maintaining a completion rate of 60.3%. In the rushing category, Bryson Washington contributed 788 yards on 154 carries, scoring six touchdowns. Josh Cameron also stood out as a receiver, with 872 yards from 69 receptions and nine touchdowns.

On the other side, Auburn's offense was led by Jackson Arnold, who accumulated 1,309 passing yards, throwing six touchdowns and two interceptions, with a completion percentage of 63.3%. Jeremiah Cobb was the leading rusher for Auburn, gaining 969 yards on 175 attempts, resulting in five touchdowns, while Cam Coleman was the top receiver with 708 yards on 56 catches and five touchdowns.

Both Baylor and Auburn will look to kick off their seasons positively, as Baylor is scheduled to face Prairie View A&M on September 12, and Auburn will take on Southern Miss on the same date.
