TCU's quarterback decision is unresolved after a 21-13 loss to Central Florida in Orlando. The Horned Frogs are 2-2 overall and 0-2 versus Power Four teams, while averaging 11.5 points per game through their first month. The loss was the Big 12 opener for both programs.
Jaden Craig, a transfer from Harvard, still sits ahead of sophomore Adam Schobel on TCU's depth chart. Craig has completed 45 of 72 passes for 485 yards, two interceptions and no touchdowns across the North Carolina and UCF games. He also has 10 rushing attempts totaling minus-38 yards in those contests, with sacks included in college rushing statistics.
Schobel appeared in no games as a freshman in 2025 and has attempted one pass this season.
TCU could use Craig in its Oct. 3 home matchup with No. 9 BYU, or wait for Schobel's potential first start at Baylor on Oct. 17 after the team's bye week and two weeks of possible first-team preparation. Craig signed with TCU for more money than Schobel, according to the report, adding financial and personnel considerations.
The loss included 11 penalties for 86 yards, two more turnovers by TCU than UCF and 1.2 yards per rushing attempt. Coach Sonny Dykes has previously changed quarterbacks after injuries, including Max Duggan in 2022 and Josh Hoover in 2023. Hoover held the job through the 2025 regular season.
