Jacob Fields, a former safety for TCU, has been charged with aggravated assault by the Tarrant County District Attorney's Office. The charge, filed on September 23, stems from an incident that occurred on August 13 in a locker room, where Fields allegedly caused serious bodily harm to teammate Dozie Ezukanma.
The complaint details that Fields reportedly struck Ezukanma in the head and may have kicked him while he was down. As a result of the altercation, Ezukanma suffered a concussion and was hospitalized for three days due to a brain bleed. Witnesses stated that Fields attacked Ezukanma from behind, leading to the latter losing consciousness.
Following the incident, Fields surrendered to law enforcement on August 30 and was removed from the TCU football team on August 18. He later reached out to Ezukanma via text to express his regret over the situation. The conflict reportedly arose from Fields' frustration with his practice performance.
Fields' agent, Philip Miller, issued a statement in support of him, highlighting the need to defend oneself. Additional details about the incident have not been made public.
