The Dallas Cowboys are evaluating four defensive players ahead of their Sept. 27 matchup with the Baltimore Ravens in Rio de Janeiro. Cornerback Cobie Durant, who has a hamstring strain, and safety PJ Locke, who tore the plantar fascia in his foot, are expected to miss multiple weeks. The team has not decided whether either player will go on injured reserve, coach Brian Schottenheimer said.
Linebacker DeMarvion Overshown has a hamstring strain, while safety Malik Hooker has a broken forearm. Neither had been cleared to return after missing the game against Washington. Schottenheimer said the shorter week could make their statuses harder to determine, with Dallas' first official injury report scheduled for Sept. 23.
The Cowboys could use other players, including linebacker elevations and changes in the secondary. Linebacker Jaishawn Barham and Dee Winters, who have dealt with a stinger and shoulder issue, respectively, are doing well and might not be listed.
Owner Jerry Jones said his comment about “an old man with money” referred to possible football-related additions. He said he was willing to spend to strengthen a team he views optimistically and praised defensive tackles Quinnen Williams and Kenny Clark. Dallas is scheduled to leave Sept. 24 for a 10-hour flight to Rio.
