Baylor’s medical staff approved starting quarterback DJ Lagway’s return against Colorado after an ankle injury sidelined him following the Sept. 5 game. Coach Dave Aranda had forecast his return earlier in the week. Baylor and Colorado both entered the matchup with 2-1 records as the Bears began Big 12 play.
Nate Bennett will return to the backup position after two starts. He completed 75% of his passes for 567 yards, six touchdowns and two interceptions in those games, while adding 15 rushing yards and two rushing scores. Baylor also made wide receiver Jadon Porter, defensive back Devin Turner and defensive tackle Hosea Wheeler available.
Porter and Turner had been probable, and Wheeler moved from questionable to available later in the week. The Bears ruled out safety Jacob Redding, cornerback Jamarion Richardson, defensive lineman Devonte Tezino, offensive lineman Cayden Tone and wide receiver Ashton Jones.
Colorado ruled out wide receiver Danny Scudero, cornerback Preston Ashley, linebacker Colby Johnson, defensive lineman Vili Taufatofua, offensive lineman Demetrius Hunter and tight end Charlie Williams. Scudero and Williams have totaled 94 yards from scrimmage and one touchdown this season. Offensive lineman Xavier Payne was listed as a game-time decision.
The game is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 26, at 11 a.m. Central at McLane Stadium in Waco and is set to air on ESPN2, with Lowell Galindo and Kirk Morrison calling it. The report was published by si.com.
