The City of Anna has issued a public safety reminder regarding the use of fireworks. The announcement explicitly states that the use of fireworks in the City of Anna is illegal. Residents are advised to obey local laws and refrain from using fireworks if they are not legal in their specific location.

In conjunction with this reminder, the city provided general safety tips for individuals who may use fireworks in areas where they are permitted. These guidelines include knowing the specific fireworks being used and reading warning labels and performance descriptions before ignition. The city recommends having a designated shooter to organize the display and emphasizes that alcohol and fireworks should not be mixed.

Supervision is a key component of the safety advice. Parents and caretakers are urged to closely supervise teens using fireworks and to not allow young children to handle or use them at all. All fireworks should be used outdoors, and water should always be kept ready during use. Safety glasses are recommended for wear.

The announcement also addresses the handling of malfunctioning devices. Residents are instructed never to relight a "dud" firework. Instead, they should wait 20 minutes and then soak it in a bucket of water. Spent fireworks must be soaked with water before being placed in an outdoor garbage can. Consumers are warned never to attempt to alter or modify consumer fireworks and to use them only in the manner intended.

Finally, the city encourages residents to report illegal explosives, such as M-80s and quarter sticks, to the Fire or Police Department. This notice serves as a clear directive regarding local ordinances and general safety practices associated with pyrotechnics.
