SHERMAN, Texas – Jonathan Mark Fleming, 41, of Denton, was sentenced to 78 months in federal prison for committing three armed bank robberies in the Denton County area. U.S. District Judge Richard Schell handed down the sentence on June 29, 2026, following Fleming’s guilty plea to bank robbery charges.
According to court documents, the crimes occurred between November 2022 and February 2023. During each incident, Fleming dressed in all black, wearing black gloves, ski goggles, and a mask while brandishing a firearm. He initially arrived at the first two banks in a red Dodge Challenger. For the third robbery, he used a Dodge Ram TRX truck.
Investigators traced the truck to its original dealership, where records showed Fleming had purchased it with a large cash payment and traded in the red Dodge Challenger. This led to a search warrant for Fleming’s apartment on February 23, 2023. Upon arrest, officers found items matching video surveillance evidence, including black clothing, a face covering, a gun belt, and ski goggles.
Authorities also seized a large sum of cash wrapped in bank bands, multiple firearms including a Smith and Wesson handgun and two AR-style rifles, and police radio scanners. Receipts indicated large cash deposits ranging from $19,000 to $40,000. Fleming stole approximately $450,000 in total.
