BasePoint, a Texas-based behavioral health organization, opened a new facility in McKinney on June 17. The location, situated at 4601 Medical Center Drive, is the group's fourth physical site in the state. It joins existing centers in Arlington, Frisco, and Forney.
The McKinney site, which operates under the BreakThrough program, focuses on young adults between the ages of 18 and 35. Services include partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient care. The facility is open daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
McKinney is about 11 miles south of Anna.
Hope Windsor, executive director of the McKinney facility, stated that the new location addresses the unique challenges faced by young adults today. She noted that previous generations have not experienced the same level of complexity in mental health needs. Windsor described emerging adulthood as a distinct developmental phase that requires specialized support.
The BreakThrough program aims to help young people navigate mental health challenges while pursuing education, employment, and relationships. Windsor compared the program to BasePoint’s Academy program for adolescents, noting that both are designed to meet individuals where they are during transitional life stages.
BasePoint cited recent U.S. Census data indicating that less than one in four young adults has reached key life milestones. The organization also pointed to Texas ranking 50th in access to mental health care. Rising rates of anxiety and depression among young people, driven by academic and economic pressures, were cited as additional factors influencing the need for specialized services.
